Layout Building

From time to time I get asked if I can build a layout for someone and I am now in a position to offer a layout building service - from building baseboards and laying track through to wiring and scenery. If you want I can do the bits that you find difficult or just boring, leaving you to get on with the interesting stuff.

Please bear in mind that I won't sell my time at National Minimum Wage rates and if you want me to work 'on site' it gets very expensive very quickly.

The question that everyone asks is "How much does it cost?" and the answer is always, it depends.

A single board laid and wired as a 'train set' starts around the £500 mark - depending on options, size and complexity.

Complex wiring, ballasting and scenic treatment pushes the cost up

As a rough guide a completed model like Walton or Charmouth would be in the region of £1500 - £2000.
